I don't know if it is still relevant - but take a look at this thread ...

ViewMail not working on all accounts

In your admin tool - under Domains -> yourDomain -> Public service host name

what do you have ?

Is the name here DNS resolvable ?

If you copy/paste that entry into a browser - does it open when prefixed with https:// ?

If you click "Check MX record" on the toolbar - does it pass ?

Also - check out this thread - and read through the comments in the bug report. They might help you to isolate the issue.

Admin Console gives error on View Mail (5.0.9)

Hmmm

Under public service hostname its just got "zimbra mailserver" which clearly isn't resolvable. What should that value be, the DNS of the mailserver?

Yes. Whatever DNS name you use for your mail server should go in there. (webmail.mydomain.wherever or something like that)

If you are making the server available both internally and externally (on the internet) you may/will need to look up split dns on the wiki to make sure you can resolve the name correctly both internally and externally.

Did a bit more digging - set that value to our dns value

Then selected random user, view mailbox - got connection was reset error - appears to be trying to open on http?

I changed to https and it opens..... how to make sure it passes the auth token as https?

Check your domain serrings

log in as root
su - zimbra

[zimbra@zimbra ~]$ zmprov gd yourDomainHere | grep PublicService
zimbraPublicServiceHostname: yourServerHere
zimbraPublicServiceProtocol: https

If you want to use https - make sure the second attribute is set to https

To set it

zmprov md yourDomainHere zimbraPublicServiceProtocol https

then re-run the above command to verify the value.

I think you have to restart the server for this change to take effect - but not entirely sure.
