Default Moving Zimbra to different Host/IP

I have often moved Zimbra to a new server, but always retained the same hostname and IP so everything went smoothly following these instructions:

» Zimbra :: Blog

However, I now need to move to a new server with a different hostname and IP. I have tried to change hostname afterwards with ZmSetServerName which seemed to work. But things are not working right since I also had to manually change the Web gui port from 80 to the one I used in the previous install (7000) which I thought would have been retained since I copied the entire /opt/zimbra folder after doing the empty/test install on the new machine.

I was finally able to get the Zimbra login screen but as soon as I try to log in, it tries to redirect to the previous Zimbra server?

Also, I can login to the admin tool (7071) and it lists both Zimbra servers under "Server"?

So what are the instructions to move to a new server with a new hostname and IP so that everything works as before and only ONE server is listed in the admin tool?

If you move a ZCS install to a new server you will have to keep the original hostname and any other settings (because that's what the original server has) you've modified, you should then revert those to the defaults or the settings you require on the new server.

Thanks kindly. It seemed to work ok that way (change new servers hostname and IP to match old server) and then I made the hostname changes on the new machine. Although the old server still shows up in the admin tool under "Server Status" and will all records showing (data is stale), everything else seems to be working fine. Do you know if there is any way to remove the old server from showing up under "Server Status"?

Thanks again for your help and Merry Christmas.

You need the following command:

Logger (ZCS 6.0.x and later) - Zimbra :: Wiki

in the following format:
Code:
zmloggerhostmap -d myhost.mydomain.com myhost
zmloggerhostmap -a myhost.mydomain.com myhost.mydomain.com

You're welcome and a Merry Christmas to you.

[EDIT]Sorry, I included the commands for removing a specific server and adding a new correct hostname. Obviously you should only need to delete the offending server that you don't want.

Thanks again....just to be safe.....thought I should double-check the syntax since I did not find it at the link you provided.

Current/New server is penguin.johnnystork.ca

Previous/Old server was epiphany.johnnystork.ca (the one I want to remove from the "Server Status".

su zimbra
zmloggerhostmap -d penguin.johnnystork.ca epiphany

You'll probably need the FQDN of the server, it should look like this:

Code:
su - zimbra
zmloggerhostmap -d penguin.johnnystork.ca epiphany.johnnystork.ca
You should also mak sure that when you become the Zimbra user that you include the hyphen in the su command, omitting it can cause problems.
