Default html signature to big

Hi,

i tried to add and html signature for an user.
The signature already exists on disk and has a size of 8540bytes.
When i try to add the content to zimbra i get
signature is to big, text including html must not extend 10240bytes.
I modified it to 11240 in the adminpanel, afterwards i get:
must not exceed 11240characters.

but both values are bigger then the real html-file?

best regards
thomas

most likely user copy pasted that html code - probably from outlook

funny the windows way of copy and paste - youll get all the code from outlook which is extraordinary big and faulty

of course you cant see it because the windows in the zimbra signature edit interpret the code instantly

easy solution - copy the text - insert in notepad - recopy paste it as sig - edit sig to redisgn - code is now clean

We tried to add the Signature over zmprov and the error message was gone

zmprov csig user@domain.com signature-name zimbraPrefMailSignatureHTML '<b>Hello World</b>'

Also copy & paste of the HTML-Code to the Webgui dont work cause Zimbra still shows the source code (html signature is selected!). You have to open the HTML File with an Browser, select all and copy paste the Content to the Webgui.

why im writing if noone is listening ?

of course zmprov works too like that
but it would have been way easier if your user simply paste it in notepad first

problem is only the clipboard of windows and the messed up html by outlook (most user copy from there)

one simple line can easy endup in 1000 digits and more

btw zimbra should not show the sourcecode - try to copy paste with firefox recent - ther i can confirm no sourcecode is shown

I have read your thread. We dont use Windows as Client System. I copied the source Code from Gedit (gnome) from the .html File of the Signnature and they arent any outlook stuff. However the Problem is solved and thanks for your replay

allright,.. sorry

yea that aint work - clipboard in linux is just plain text
theres no way to insert html into the webui from there other than simply redo it with the internal editor

in windows the clipboard is very powerful which also result i weird errors sometimes

btw: for that purpose most cms have the option to insert plain html instead of using a html editor -
but on the other hand more settings in the UI more troubled users hmmmm
