Migration from QMAIL; Setting up user mailboxes in multiple domains Currently we are running Qmail and all of the associated programs for our production mail server.
I would like to slowly migrate users over to the new Zimbra server and I think I have this planned out and ready to go.
Qmail does not have any sort of individual transport map (on a per user basis) that I could find. I've chosen to set up a third server (Postfix) that will merely move email to the new and old servers based on the address that the mail is sent to.
The transport_maps mechanism seems to work just fine for this purpose in the third server I set up with Postfix. I've done testing with my email accounts and mail seems to be delivered where it needs to go without a problem.
The questions I really have deal with configuring Zimbra:
The real issue at hand comes from the fact that we are one business with multiple smaller businesses within the umbrella. We have users that work for companyA, companyB, and maybe CompanyD --- they have addresses with each. What I am trying to achieve is the following:
---All email from every domain for which a user receives email ends up in filtered folders within one mailbox (seems easily achieved)
--When the user goes to send an email they are forced to select what address they send it from (ie: DomainA, DomainB, DomainC, etc) - I see configuration information about this in the documentation, but I have not gotten this to work.
--When replying to an email it automatically uses the Domain it was sent to as the reply-to (from reading documentation, this SHOULD happen if I succesfully set up users to be able to select the FROM address when composing messages)
I don't really have forsee any specific problem with this plan, except I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about this.
I'm just kind of hunting to see what others have done in this situation or may have done. It seems to be very feasible within Zimbra. I would prefer to have all of the emails drop into one primary account mostly because of Contacts,Calanders, etc.
I have read through a few places in the forums where people have asked and possibly done similar things, but its very possible I haven't searched through the forums with the right terms and missed some very good posts concerning these issues.
Any pointers, tips, tricks, are greatly appreciated...I am open to any ideas or suggestions...
Thanks,
