mail server not working

Hi all,

yesterday morning our zimbra mail service was not working, we have teh 6.0.6 ga 2324 running over ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS. the os was ok, only the mail service was not working, we just reboot the system to fix it. how can i check what was the issue? is there any system log file or where can i go and check?
