Use external mail server to retreive messages

Right now I am using atmail for my webmail server and it downloads the e-mail and authenticates from a separate mail server running qpopper and sendmail. Is there a way to set up Zimbra to act the same way as our atmail webmail server is running?

Yes. Most folks just use fetchmail for this and then have it push the mail into Zimbra.
