These files all of a sudden started growing huge and simply fill up the disk and hang the server.
Is there any way to disable those?
I have played with log4j settings to no avail, also disabled logger service completely (again no effect).

Ever get an answer for this? I've contacted Zimbra support to ask about this myself. They showed up between 6.0.10 and 6.0.15, right?
These are log files from jetty itself, controlled via the /opt/zimbra/jetty/etc/jetty.xml file.
They existed in 6.0.10, but their location moved in a later release when the jetty.xml file was altered.
Previously, they were stored in /opt/zimbra/jetty/logs/ and now they are in /opt/zimbra/log. I only noticed them because of this change in location.
