Default Mail Store Question

Hello,

We are currently running Zimbra OSE 7.1.1. I was looking at the /opt/zimbra/store directory and noticed that one of the account directories has nearly 6GB of files in it, a lot of which looks like mail from a couple of years ago. However, when I connect to the web interface for the account, I see no mail in any of the folders.

For most of the accounts on our Zimbra server, we use Outlook and just download the mail via POP3. We don't keep mail on the server. This account shouldn't have anything in it. I'm guessing that somehow the references to these messages were cleared from the data store, but the message files themselves were not deleted.

Is there a way to purge this old mail?

Thanks for any help,
Rod

If you're certain that this account should have no mail in it then why not just rename the account (just in case) and create a new account with the original name (unless there's something in there they need)?

Thanks, Phoenix. The account is just a temporary holding account that collects mail that is to be archived. I guess I could rename it, create a new account with the same name, and then delete the renamed account.

That's what I'd do but I'd also keep the renamed account for a while.

What I ended up doing was creating a new account, renaming the old archive account, creating an alias with the same name as the old archive account, and pointing the alias to the new account. If I run into this problem again, I can just create a new account, and point the alias to that account.

There was truly nothing in the account that I needed, so I deleted it.
