The fact of the matter is that the components installed with Zimbra are meant to be used ONLY by zimbra, it should be installed on a dedicated server for the use of Zimbra. Any modifications to Zimbra components must be made without any consideration that users may have interaction with those components other than those specifiec by Zimbra. If you want an LDAP server to authenticate against then install openLDAP or Fedora Directory Server.

All I'm saying is that you can't guarantee that Zimbra will leave those componensts unchanged - end of discussion!
