Default CPU usage is showing as High always

Hi all,

Our Mail server is a Multi server installation , with a master, replica ldaps and one Mailstore. We have around 2000 users. But the highest number of active sessions will not go beyond 400 as the users works in shifts.

The CPU usage in our Mailstore is observed to be higher than 100% all the time, some times it tends to go more than 200%. The server has four cores.

For your reference , I am pasting out put from top command.

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
7299 zimbra 18 0 2187m 1.8g 17m S 169.1 30.4 1768:08 java

Can anyone suggest , Is this normal or do we have to do any tuning to get rid of this?

Regards

Riyas

You've given not details of which version of ZCS is in use, update your forum profile with the output of the following command:

Code:
zmcontrol -v

Default Me too

I have this problem as well on one server thats on a VM. It has only 60 users from my corp office and is always at 100%. The funny thing is another server with about 450 users and the exact same hardware/vmware specs for our sateliite offices doesnt have this problem.

I think i am getting close to a solution though. There is definitely something amiss with 7.1.3 zimbra java. From reasearch i figured out how to alleviate some of the stress

Zimbra: High CPU spikes every 1 minute

i followed the section near the end
su - zimbra
zmlocalconfig -e zmmtaconfig_interval=6000
zmprov mcf zimbraLogRawLifetime 7d
zmprov mcf zimbraLogSummaryLifetime 30d
/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmlogprocess

and i also did some grub mods since i am in a virtual machine but that might not be relevant to you

BTW. installing HTOP gives a much clearer picture than the regular top command.

Have you also applied the relevant patch to that version of Zimbra?
