Default All mail before two days ago is gone

Hi,
I have a client who uses his own onsite tech.
They have outlook connected to Zimbra on one PC and decided to set up a laptop the other day. After the setup was finished, it created all the subfolders and such in the profile...but none of the older mail was syncing to the client only new messages.
upon looking at the server, all the sub-folders are now empty, no mail in the inbox before 11/2/11 in the account.

Any idea what could have caused this? or any guidance in where to look in the logs to see what may have happened would be appreciated. I'm just not sure where to look, or really what to look for.

Thanks

My first thought would be that someone setup Outlook with a POP3 account instead of an IMAP account, and didn't check the box to leave messages on the server. Should be easy enough to check this in the logs (/opt/zimbra/log).

Hi soxfan,
yes that was my initial assumption as well, and of course they insist that they configured everything correctly...
I have tried checking the logs, but having a problem.
As root the directory I am told does not exist, as zimbra user I am denied access, I'm not heavy linux user, so maybe I am doing something wrong...

I'm typing cd/opt/zimbra/log

Have you solved your problem?

I don't think this could be due to POP since POP will only take mail out of the inbox, and here the mail seems to be missing from other folders.

Since Outlook is involved I would suspect that the Outlook on the original PC is configured with AutoArchive.

No I have not currently resolved this, but after talking to the technician for our client, it looks like the problem is that synchronization is not happening from the client-pc to the server for mail. Hence the sub-folders and new mail being there but nothing else. Still searching the forums to see what I can find..
