Default Moving Mails from one store to another

Hi,

I have 2 primary mailstores, as the first one is on a rather small disk I would like to delete it and have all mails in the second mailstore.
How can I move the mails from the first to the second store?
Or is this done when I press delete in the Admin interface?

Thanks

Christian

Currently there isn't the ability to move mail directly, what has been suggested in the past is to do a backup from one server and restore on the other, this is only available in the Network Edition. If you are using the open source edition, you should probably take a look at imapsync.

Hi,

I think you misunderstood me. I do not want to move mails between 2 servers, but within one.
We started the install with everything zimbra in /opt/zimbra/ as preconfigured.
Now before we launched it as our productive environment we created another mailstore on additional disks and new mails and the one we imported from our old system are stored there.
Now as index and sb are getting bigger we do not have too much space left on the device and we are not sure if the archived redologs should be left there or could be deleted.
If we could move the mails from the original mailstore to the second one we would probably gain enough space to run for quite some time.
I would prefer moving the mails in our second mailstore to moving the mailstore and linking it to the old place.

Is ther a chance to do this?

Christian

So if I understand you correctly now, you have you have two volumes to which you store mail. I'm not really sure how to move mail between the volumes. But I have a theory or logic.

When mail volumes are created they would have the same file or directory structure, so in theory you may be able just move the mail on the disk. May also require re-indexing or editing the database.

Thats just my theory, don't trust it too much. If you do attempt then I seriously suggest making a backup. But your probably better of not doing it at all.
