Default Admin Console Internal Server Error

Since we upgraded to Release 7.1.2_GA_3268.DEBIAN5_64 we randomly get Internal Server Error when trying to access the Admin Console. Sometimes it will work however about 70% of the time when going to the link https://mydomain.com:7071/ we get the Internal Server Error message.

This is the error I'm getting in the mailbox log:

    Code:
    2011-10-10 10:10:53,466 ERROR [btpool0-190://mydomain.com:7071/zimbraAdmin/] [] log - Error for /zimbraAdmin/
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
Everything else is working fine. RAM shouldn't be an issue.

    Any suggestions?

Well, 'shouldn't be' and 'is' are two different things and as it's showing an out of memory problem how about telling us what the exact amount of installed RAM is on this server? Is this on bare metal or a VM and if it's a VM what hypervisor?
    Regards

It is not a VM. Have 24 GB of RAM installed.

Here is the output of free -m

    Code:
    free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 24167 23187 980 0 188 16938
    -/+ buffers/cache: 6060 18107
    Swap: 3145 0 3145

    Default

Ended up changing some Java options specifically MaxPermSize and PermSize. Using values of 196m instead of 128m.

Here is the command I used, basically using the default options, changing the -XX:PermSize and -XX:MaxPermSize parameters:

    Code:
    zmlocalconfig -e mailboxd_java_options="-server -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=${networkaddress_cache_ttl} -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:PermSize=196m -XX:MaxPermSize=196m -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -verbose:gc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintGCApplicationStoppedTime -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow"

Also noticed this in my zmmailboxd.out on the last restart before I applied the changes.

    Code:
     PSPermGen total 80384K, used 80304K [0x0000000635c00000, 0x000000063aa80000, 0x000000063ae00000)
      object space 80384K, 99% used [0x0000000635c00000,0x000000063aa6c0b0,0x000000063aa80000)
So far I have been running with these settings for about an hour and haven't had an issue yet. It may be too soon to tell but hopefully this resolved the issue I was having.
