Question safe to delete logs in /opt/var/log?

hi everyone,

please advice if it is safe to delete old logs in /opt/zimbra/logs?
this are the logs that are rotating and incrementing.Does it affect the performance of the mail server if i delete these logs?
How can i configure to limit the log rotation ?
1.
audit.log.2011-09-10.gz
........
........
audit.log.2011-09-17.gz
2.
httpd_access.log.2011-09-12
....
httpd_access.log.2011-09-19
3.
mailbox.log.2011-09-10.gz
...
mailbox.log.2011-09-18.gz

Zimbra log file rotations are controlled via the /etc/logrotate.d/zimbra script.

You can edit it to suit your preferences but it will be replaced as part of a Zimbra upgrade with the latest Zimbra version.

by the way, is this compress log safe to delete in an production environment if not needed ?

I've deleted compressed logs with no issues. I've even accidentally removed the active logs and things still work fine. They get re-created after the logrotate runs.
