Resource hog??

I've installed Zimbra on a VMware guest running Ubuntu 10.02-LTS 64bit and it seems to be quite a resource hog. I've allocated 2 CPU's and 2GB of ram to the VM Guest OS and I just logged into the shell via SSH and it showed me the memory usage was 71%.

What's weird is there is NO emails actually working yet. I've just installed ZCS but have not activated any of the accounts (one created, just not using it yet).

When I run # top it is showing there are many instances of avamis running and there are two instances of java running.

Is this normal to be using this much?

In addition it takes a LONG time to start each individual services for zimbra (up to 1 minute per service).

What would you expect? Doesn't Linux use RAM for a cache instead of using HD?

You also haven't given any information about the hardware specs of your host or which version of VMware is in use.

I'm not sure what to expect, that's why I'm asking here because I don't know if I've done something wrong or not.

As for hardware the server is:
ESXi 4.1
Xeon 2.4 Dual core
4 GB ram total

I'm running only 2 VM's right now. The first is pfSense and the second is ZCS 7.1 community edition.
