Upgrade zimbra & OS suggestions

Hello,
I'm looking for a suggestion on what would be the best practice when upgrading a Zimbra 5 server that is running on CentOS 4.6 (32 bit) to Zimbra 7 that will run on CentOS 6 (64bit).
What would be the best way to upgrade?

Read it carefully and plan for migration. Create a full backup before doing a migration.

But that is only one part of the problem.
I need to:
1. Upgrade to Zimbra 7 from Zimbra 5
2. Upgrade the OS from CentOS 4 to CentOS 6
3. Upgrade the OS from 32bit to 64bit

I was thinking about upgrading Zimbra from 5 to 7 on the old 32bit CentOS 4 server. Installing a new CentOS 6 64bit server with Zimbra 7 and migrating to the new server.

Would it work?
Will I be able to use the migration tool from Zimbra 7 to do the migration?

Read the Release Notes to see which version can be directly upgraded and follow the steps in the article you've been given (follow the instructions exactly) to move it to a new server - read the article in detail then practice a move in a test environment.

Just one more question, that I can't find the answer to in the documentation.

Will the upgrade process work for a non-licensed, open source installation,
or will it only work for a licensed server?

If you're talking about the wiki article then it has been answered many times in the forums, follow the documentation and leave out any NE steps - you should also make sure you take adequate backups before making any changes/updates/moves.

I'm talking about the V7 release notes, the Upgrade section.
They talk about making sure that there is a valid license and that the Upgrade process will check this.

Does that mean that for an open source server this process will not work?

PS: Because this is my first time upgrading the server, I will make sure that a full backup is created before making any changes. Thanks for the tip

You haven't mentioned the NE version before, are you using NE? If you're not then why are you reading the NE Release Notes and not the Open SOurce version Release Notes?

I would note that CentOS is only up to RHEL 6.0. ZCS for RHEL6_64 require RHEL 6.1 or later. So it is ill advised to use CentOS 6 at this time until they catch up to RHEL6.
