Default Improving the performance and scalabitity of MySQL in Zimbra

If you're interested in seeing the performance and scalability of MySQL in Zimbra improved then you might like to vote on the RFE: Bug 58747 - RFE - Replace mySQL by Percona Server

Percona Server with XtraDB is an enhanced drop-in replacement for MySQL. It offers performance improvements over MySQL and is fully Open Source.

Have a look at the Feature Comparison and some of the details of the product on the Percona web site. If this is something you'd like to see in Zimbra then vote and add your comments to the RFE - your vote will make a difference.

Is there any particular feature in your minds that would make it more significant to switch to Percona vs switching to MariaDB? Both are forks of MySQL, both implement the XtraDB engine, both have been benchmarked with superior performance to vanilla MySQL, but one thing going for MariaDB is that it is a fork started by the original creator of MySQL.

Has a bug report been filed for this upgrade? To get devs attention, that's the place to go. I'd vote for it, there is a voting system on bugzilla.

Yes, that's why I posted the link to the bug report in my original post (the first one in this thread).

I've actually been following that report and it seems that Quanah already made a set of patches to replace MySQL with MariaDB. I'm guessing it will show up in the next release. I'm not as sure if they plan on migrating from InnoDB to XtraDB in the same timeframe.

I doubt that but you'll find details of the targeted release in the Product Portal.

ZCS9 will ship with MariaDB. MariaDB uses XtraDB by default, so all ZCS installations will automatically use XtraDB at install/upgrade to ZCS9.
