Default Zimbra with two networkAdapter have "Internal Server Error"

We have three Zimber server. One is in the Internet, one is in the Intranet,
and the left Zimbra Server machine has 2 network Adapter --- one is connecting to Internal and the other is connecting intranet.

Currently, we require the two network adapter on the same machine never work together at the same time. That means: ifdown eth0 ifup eth1 for the first 5 minutes and ifdown eth1 if up eth0 for next 5 minutes.

Emails should pop from the Internet Server to the Intranet Server through the two network adapter Server. And emails should be also relay from Intranet Server to Internet Server also through the two network adapter Server.

I am sure I can relay emails from intranet server out and pop emails from Internet server to Intranet server successfully, if the two network adapter both work at the same time.

However, everytime when ifdown the network adapter which is connect to the Internet, we will have problems to use this server to relay emails out from an internal Zimber Server and have problems to pop external account from an outsider Zimber Server.

It always pop up "internal server error". Does anyone have ideas to work around this issue?

Thank you in advance.

This really is never going to work and it's rather a strange set-up, what are you trying to do with this configuration?

Thank you very much for your reply.

We are required that Intranet should never connect to Internet, something like physical disconnection. So we used to copy emails from Internet Zimbra Server to Intranet by USB manually.

Currently, we would like to automatically sync emails. Therefore, the two network adapter machine works as the bridge between Internet Zimbra Server and Intranet Zimbra Server.

However, to implement the physical disconnection between Intranet and Internet. We are required anytime there is only one network adapter on the median machine could work, there should be a switcher to control this.

However, Zimbra does not work when the Internet network Adapter on the median machine is disabled.

As I mentioned earlier, that's never going to work. You need the interface to be up all the time so the Zimbra server can bind to the IP address, the only way round this (AFAIKS) if to restart Zimbra every time you take an interface up or down.
