Default zimbra on centos with apache

I had zimbra installed and running on my centos server, then i changed the port to port 80 so that i can also run a web server. I can now see both the apache install and zimbra install on the respective ports although when i try to login in as a user on my server mail.speddy.net it gives me an error:

An unknown application error has occurred. Please correct any errors and retry. If the problem persists, please contact your System Administrator. (INVALID_PDU)

I have searched the fourums and have run accross a posting saying to run this:
zmprov ms mail.speddy.net zimbraMailPort 8080 zimbraMailSSLPort 443.

to no avail it just gave me other errors:

[root@speddy ~]# su - zimbra
[zimbra@speddy ~]$ zmprov ms <servername> zimbraMailPort <port> zimbraMailSSLPor t <sslPort>
[zimbra@speddy ~]$ zmprov ms speddy.net zimbraMailPort 8080 zimbraMailSSLPort 74 43

Any help would be greatly loved.

This is on a clean install of centos 4.4.3 (up-to-date). not on a virtual server.
only going to be used for approximatly two people one using a pop3 client.

Thanks
Speddy

Before I installed zimbra I did verify that all of the other services httpd mysqld and webmin were off. There where no errors in the install log.

I used another thread to do the install.

the only things i change where port 80 now runs on port 8080 in both the
501 nano /opt/zimbra/tomcat/conf/server.xml
502 nano /opt/zimbra/tomcat/webapps/service/WEB-INF/web.xml

other than that nothing has changed since i was able to login correctly after the intial install. I must have missed something.

A couple of questions. This is a new install: is there any email on your server that you want to keep?; I assume you did a restart of Zimbra after making the changes?

If there's nothing on your system that you need I would suggest removing Zimbra, starting your own Apache and reinstall Zimbra - make the changes to the port when you're asked during set-up? It's far easier doing that, and quicker, than trying to debug port problems.

Glad you got it working. Believe me, it's much quicker than trying to debug after the install.
