Default Issue with Aliases

I have created an alias of jdoe@sub1.example.com and I am able to send and receive e-mail just fine, but the alias of john.doe@sub1.example.com cannot receive e-mail. It looks like the mail is received by the system, but then rejected. Why would this happen?

I cannot give the real domains so understand the example above is fake but representative of the issue.

Here's a (scrubbed) example from /var/log/zimbra.log of trying to send to one of these aliases:

Jul 26 14:09:32 zimbra1 postfix/smtpd[24231]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from aaa.example.com[123.456.789.10]: 550 5.1.1 <first.last@foo.bar.org>: Recipient address rejected: foo.bar.org; from=<sender@example.com> to=<first.last@foo.bar.org> proto=SMTP helo=<example.com>

Do you get a rejected bounce message?

What do you see in /var/log/zimbra.log when it is rejected?

Is the alias listed when you run:

zmprov ga user@domain.com zimbraMailAlias

where user@domain.com is the real mailbox on the server (and not the alias)

Thanks, Krishopper.

There is a bounce notice:

Code:

I posted one of the /var/log/zimbra.log messages above but here it is again:

Jul 26 14:09:32 zimbra1 postfix/smtpd[24231]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from aaa.example.com[123.456.789.10]: 550 5.1.1 <first.last@foo.bar.org>: Recipient address rejected: foo.bar.org; from=<sender@example.com> to=<first.last@foo.bar.org> proto=SMTP helo=<example.com>

Yes, the alias is listed under zmprov ga .

Thanks again!
