Question New domain change but want to keep receiving from old domain

Okay, after exhaustive searched in Docs, Wiki and Forums, this is a best practices question. If anyone has a good resource anywhere in Zimbra universe, it would be greatly appreciated.

We are changing our domain name but still want to receive email to the old domain in order to create a transition period through the end of the year.

Both the name of the server and the domain will need to be changed. If it is easier to leave the current name of the server that is okay, I can CNAME the DNS for the staff. Then just, how would shifting the domains work?

I've seen the zmprov commands to make the domain change but that would cause the old domain to disappear blocking email being sent to that old domain. I have not been able to find a process to allow this.

But I am also a little confused as to how Virtual Hosts works under an existing domain. If someone can explain or point to something more explanatory than what is in the Wiki/Docs, again, greatly appreciated.

once you switch to the new domain, create a domain alias for the old one, see Managing Domains - Zimbra :: Wiki
