Zimbra Stats service stops frequently

The service stats (from admin console monitoring>server status) this service stops frequently without a reason I can notice or discover. I can start the service again without any problem (zmstatctl start). I cannot know why it stops or how to troubleshoot and find the problem.

Below is the status of the service when it stops. You can notice that there are two in particular (zmstat-nginx.pid) and (zmstat-cpu.pid).

The version of the Zimbra is Release 6.0.2_GA_1912.RHEL5_64_20091020161509 CentOS5_64 FOSS edition.

The version of the Zimbra is Release 6.0.2_GA_1912.RHEL5_64_20091020161509 CentOS5_64 FOSS edition.

I'd suggest you upgrade to the most recent release of Zimbra.

Why do you have the imapproxy and memcached installed on what I assume is a single server? They should not be installed on a single server, they will cause you problems. Search the forums for details on how to disable and remove them and how to reset the ports to their correct values.

Hi Waseemz, like it says the particular pid doesn't really exist on the server. First stop stats with su - zimbra; zmstatctl stop. Then remove the pid entry from both the files /opt/zimbra/zmstat/pid/zmstat-nginx.pid and /opt/zimbra/zmstat/pid/zmstat-cpu.pid using your editor (just make it blank). Now start stats with zmstatctl start.

Like Bill said, issues with stats broken or troubles with service status from admin-gui has been discussed a lot here and solved too. Please give a search.

And don't miss the important point Bill has stated above, about imap-proxy and memcached.

Edit: this should help you to disable it. Server stop sending and receiving mail

Many thanks, I disabled imapproxy and memcached services and reset ports.

I will try to update to the latest release 6.0.13 or maybe I will take decision to upgrade to 7.1.1.

I will see if the disabling services will affect the stats service.

You are welcome. Happy I could help.
Removing the pid files and restarting stats once helped me to remove the same error.
Good luck with the updation, and if you are planing 7.1.1, don't forget there is a patch for that release which you need to apply after the normal upgrade. It fixes lot of issues.
