you are right but here is my situation:
my users archive mails like this
/Inbox
/Inbox/2006
/Inbox/2006/200601
/Inbox/2006/200602
/Inbox/2006/200603
.
.
/Sent
/Sent/2006
/Sent/2006/200601
/Sent/2006/200602
/Sent/2006/200603
.
.
we have mails going back 4 years. total messag size 7 to 20 gb per account.
i use thunderbird to subscribe/unsubscribe the folders i want. apple mail just does not seem to be able do deal with that amout of messages. its imap implementation is crap. my users log into the zimbra web client to search for mails older than the once they have subscribed.
i know this is a hack. and i dont want this as a feature. i just want to hack this for my particluar usecase.
there might be other apple users with the same prob.
i would wonder how they solve this prob.
