Question Mail Missing!!! NE Installation.

Good day everybody.
After spending a lot of time on this and still not getting an answer, please could you guys assist me?
(Centos 5/Zimbra7/NE)

Problem:
1. External user sends message to one of my users.
2. The log (/var/log/maillog) shows the message arrives.
3. The zimbra mailbox log shows the message arrives and logged into INBOX.
BUT MESSAGE IS NOT IN THE INBOX.

Doing a:
Quote:
zmmboxsearch -m <user>@<domain> -q "<email sender address>" -v
shows me all the other mail sent by this external user to my internal user, but not the message in question. (I can pick-up the message id (CID) from the zimbra maillog as it is placed into the INBOX)

HELP PLEASE!
Kind regards
Aubrey Kloppers

The usual reason for 'missing' mail is the user has a filter that's a) filed it in a different folder, b) they have a filter that deletes it, c) they have it forwarded to another account and don't keep a copy, d) they use a pop3 client to download (and remove) the email or e) they use another client and have a filter that deletes it. Any of those cases likely to be the cause of this problem?

Hi Phoenix
(Damn, I feel I am starting to owe you big-time. You keep answering my posts )

No, there is no 'filter' on the user's machine. As a matter of fact,I keep getting the smae thing on multiple users. This is but one I am looking at.

Hi Bill,
The archive option is purchased with the ZIMBRA NE.

Kind regards

That's OK, you may use either.

If the email is arriving in the Archive mailbox then I'd suggest it should also be in the users mailbox. Have you tried a reindex of the users mailbox? Where are these mailbox located (what filesystem), any RAID system or any possibility of a problem of the HD? How long has this been happening, did it start at the same time for all users that are experiencing the problem? Has there been any updates to your operating system lately?

Hi Bill
I ran re-indexing on the user's inbox, but the mail is still not there.

The funny thing is, as I said, the mail is in the archiving system and according to the mailbox-log logged into the user's inbox... I have seen this on 2 more users mailboxes.

The second weird thing is the user in question forwarded the specific mail from his external mailbox (held at a webmail provider) and when re-forwarding the mail, it did get through...

Kind regards
Aubrey Kloppers
ps - no upgrades/updates have been done...
ps2 - the archiving system and the mailbox system is on the same partition...
ps3 - The problem did not occur at the same time for the same users. The incidents are about a week apart.

The mailbox log:

2011-06-02 10:49:51,771 INFO [LmtpServer-5364] [name=<EDIT>@<EDIT>;mid=19;ip=<EDIT>;] mailop - Adding Message: id=5501, Message-ID=<redirect-478308129@<EDIT>>, parentId=-1, folderId=2, folderName=Inbox.
2011-06-02 10:49:51,804 INFO [Pop3Server-2200] [ip=<EDIT>;] pop - connected
2011-06-02 10:49:51,831 INFO [LmtpServer-5364] [] ProtocolHandler - Handler exiting normally

As you can see, id=5501 gets loggid into the INBOX ok...
