    Hello,

well, I have tried few times, deleting the pid file and re-installing zimbra, without any success. The zmconfigd is still not running.

Before you ask, yes, I did stop zimbra services before I deleted the pid but that did not make a difference.

Does anyone have any other ideas about how to solve this problem?

I am having this issue with redhat OSS install. I have another server on which I have ubuntu and NE version and I was able to update to 7.1.1 without any problems.

    Many thanks.

Right before upgrade as root type
    rm /opt/zimbra/log/zmconfigd.pid

    Then proceed with the upgrade.

I did look at this article but it appears as if this is a bug fix for when you are upgrading and your upgrade fails. I upgraded successfully with out my upgrade failing on me.

Once upgraded I can not get zmconfigd to run. I also verify that the service pid is terminated and try to restart .. no luck. Same log output.

What is odd is that everything seems to work proper without this service running.

I am now running server in a testing enviroment on a virtualbox vm to work on fix.

    Default zmconfigd is not running.

    Hello

I have a 3 server environment with Ubuntu server 10.04.
One with MTA, another with LDAP and another third with the mailboxes.

In none of the three, starts the service zmconfigd.

    This is the log:

I've experienced the same problem after upgrading from 7.1.0 to 7.1.1. Make sure you have netcat (/usr/bin/nc) installed on your zimbra server as the modified /opt/zimbra/bin/zmconfigdctl of the 7.1.1 release relies on that to determine wether zmconfigd is running or not.

    Cheers

many thanks jackcornelius, this solves the issue! great!
the only strange thing is, that the zmconfigd tries to restart every minute. I don't know if this is a normal behaviour. here is the part in my zmconfigd.log :

I took a look at log file on my production server running 7.1.0_GA_3140.UBUNTU8 UBUNTU8 FOSS edition and this is normal log activity for this software release. It makes sense to assume that the output you see in the log file for the 7.1.1 release is the proper log output as it should not differ that much from the 7.1.0 release.

I will try to install netcat on my test / dev server running 7.1.1 and see if it makes difference. I will report my findings here in a bit.

    Cheers

    Hey all,
    Look at http://www.zimbra.com/forums/install...ounderror.html.
There is a patch out for that error, but follow the instructions how to do it from the forum listing and not the patch manual.
To get the patch, go to the download page and scroll to the bottom of the version listings.
We had the same issue and this fixed it for us.

    Default netcat (/usr/bin/nc)

Looks like Jack called it .... I can now mark this issue as solved.

if you have this issue make sure netcat (/usr/bin/nc) is installed.

Thank You all for the help.

    Cheers
