Default Centos update = system failure .. Please advise

Night all,

Today i did some software updates of the linux OS centos.. I did read through most of the changes that would happen when i do..

Sadly enough on reboot my softraid(raid1) was broken in the update and there isnt any way to fix it..and the drives wouldnt boot in single mode.. so i am going to use a live cd to copy my /opt/zimbra folder(havent run a backup for a week or 2).

My problem is that i want to move away from CEntos onto Ubuntu (this gives me the best opinion to do this)

any pointers.. or advice.

I have read this "Moving ZCS to New Server - Zimbra :: Wiki"

but i dont know if that would apply to my situation.

PS please dont laugh at my softraid.

32-bit or 64-bit ?

I am currently running 5.5 and was about to do an update. Wondering now if I ought to hold off.

Anyone else out there running CentOS 5.6 64-bit ?

Were you using Intel Software Raid by any chance ?

I did a little searching, and if you search google for

"Centos kernel upgrade breaks dmraid on Intel Software Raid"

you will find a lot of information on what may be your issue. If I read it right, it seems like if you boot your old kernel it might start up correctly - but I haven't delved into it too much.
