I can't get Zimbra 7.0 to start looks like ldap died.
I have created a new server and now I need to move the mailboxes. Since I can't get Zimbra up how can I move the accounts. Can I move domains also?
Cheers,
Jason

Then do tell a bit more about the proble as 'it's died' doesn't actually tell us anythng.
Is this a new install? Are you behind a NAT router? Did you install a Split DNS set-up (you need one if you're behind a NAT device)? What errors do you see in the log files? If this isn't a new install then which is the exact version of Zimbra that's installed (and which operating system - 32bit or 64bit)? What happened on your server to cause this problem?

Bill
I can't get it to start. I get the ldap:
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Enabled services read from cache. Service list may be inaccurate.
Starting zmconfigd...Failed.
Starting zmconfigd...Failed to start
Starting logger...Failed.
Starting logswatch...ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: ZimbraLdapContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException mx2.domain.com:389)
zimbra logger service is not enabled! failed.
So I created a new server. I am trying to move the mail to the users boxes. I have the new server up and running.
I am trying:
zmmailbox -z -m jason@domain.com postRestURL "//?fmt=tgz&resolve=reset" /tmp/jason.tgz
But it errors:
ERROR: zclient.IO_ERROR (invoke Read timed out, server: localhost) (cause: java.net.SocketTimeoutException Read timed out)
I am not looking to fix the old one at this point. I just want to move the email.
The usual reason for that is incorrect DNS A & MX records or an incorrect /etc/hosts file. I'd suggest you go to the 'Verify....' section of the Split DNS article and post the output of all the commands in there.
You should also answer the rest of the questions I asked you in my previous post. You should also refrain from posting duplicate messages in the forums when you already have one thread on that subject, I'll remove your other post and I've moved this thread to the correct forum.

Bill
Thanks for your response. I am sorry for the duplicate post.
DNS is correct. I was trying to bring up a second server to do testing and for some reason the old server decided to stop working. My guess is maybe I changed the host name in the wrong box. I am using openvz. So I copied the container to the new one and started it. That is when the old container stopped working.
Tried all the different posts based on ldap not working and it seemed to break more. Found the bug with fixperms. So it just kept getting worse. I am up and working on the new server. I just need to move the emails over. But the command I found doesn't seem to work.
If you want to move to a new server rather than fix the olde one then search the forums and/or wiki for 'disaster recovery'. You'll have to move the /opt/zimbra directory structure to the new server (including the same version of Zimbra as the one on your old server) plus the same hostname & DNS records - full details in the wiki article and forum posts.

The server is fine. It is Zimbra that is broken. So I created the same server on the new box. It is up and running. Created email accounts again. I just need to export the emails and move them to the new server.
I tried the: zmailbox export but it errors as I said above. Is there another way to export the emails by account and install them on the other server.
would it be easier to fix zimbra so I can recover the files?
Okay seems I have the server up and running. Still can't access the web interface.
