Default New Install: No http or https after dummy power failure and send/receive problems

Hi

New to linux etc so hopefully someone can help!

Setup Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server and installed Zimbra 7.1 as per instructions.

If all goes well and tests ok we will rollout to 600+ users!

Server installed correctly but small issues with send/receive emails due to DNS I believe, that was what I was going to fix to day.

But Problem:

My colleague decided to pull the power on the server as a test to see if it would come back up.

It did and all services seem to be running under zmcontrol status but I cannot access the web interface for users on 80 or admin on 7071!!!

Please help, I have spent hours crawling the web but cannot find the answer!

Many thanks

Kevin

Update!!!

Finally http & https problem solved!

Silly mistake for some reason there was an "i" in front of 127 in the hosts file!

Still have a problem with sending and receiving email though.

I can send to external but not send internal or receive internal or external.

If I toggle the enable dns lookups then I can send and receive internal and receive external.

Please help!!!

I can't believe you did a test like that. What is in /var/log/zimbra.log when you try sending internal mails? When someone tries to send to you where does it fail? Check logs to see if it is being rejected someway. If it fails, is your MS reachable?

Hi

Ok we sent a new email to external and then checked the zimbra.log which shows connection timeout (25)

But it seems to be trying to connect to example.com and not mail.example.com if that makes sense?

test postfix/smtp[27657]:connect to vindisgroup.com[85.232.44.100]:25:connection timed out

Should be connecting to mail.vindisgroup.com

Our mailserver is reachable on 25

Okay, carry out the tests mentioned at the end of this article (verify ...) Split DNS - Zimbra :: Wiki and see if you get expected results.

Exclamation Same problem

I have the same problem that Kevin has, in my case when I put

mcf zmprov zimbraMtaRelayHost my.relay.com

I can not send mail outside the domain, in the file zimbra.log

May 13 12:58:55 zimbra postfix / smtp [805]: connect to gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com [74.125.95.27]: 25: Connection timed out

Apparently is trying to deliver it directly to the recipient and not through the MTA.
