Exclamation Zimbra Server on VPS issue

Hello,

I have installed ZCS 7 on VPS running Ubuntu 8.04. I can send the emails perfectly but getting issues while receiving the email. I have a domain hosted with godaddy e.g. test.com

test.com is pointed to 1.2.3.4
mail.test.com is pointed to 4.3.2.1(Zimbra server IP)

The issue I am facing is that with the above configuration I can send the email but can not receive but if I change test.com to 4.3.2.1(Zimbra Server IP) then I can send and receive both without any issue.

Now if I change test.com which is pointed to the web server and after pointing it to Zimbra Server's IP the website becomes inaccessible.

I am stuck, have done many troubleshoots searching over the internet but nothing worked. I am looking for your help.

Thanks
RizKhan

First of all a VPS is not a supported platform, you may or may not get it working. Secondly, you haven't given much information other than 'it doesn't work'. The 'trick' in this situation is to provide sufficient diagnostic and configuration information that people can then give you some response. Have you searched the forums and/or wiki for similar problems and solutions?

What about starting with; is your system behind a NAT router; have you set-up a Split DNS; have you run all the commands in the 'Verify...' section of the split DNS article to verify your hosts file & DNS entries; have you disabled the firewall and AppArmor? That information would be useful.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your reply. I agree that three hours weren't long time to wait for the reply but I wrote it actually because someone posted a reply and then deleted.

The VPS is not behind a NAT and YES DNS is also configured properly and verified the hostfile and DNS entries too. Also the firewall and AppArmor is disabled.

As I have described the issue that if I forward test.com to the zimbra server's IP address everything works fine, while it should work by forwarding only mail.test.com to the zimbra server's IP address.

Thanks
RizKhan

If you read the reply you would have seen it was a spammer.

Then lets see the output of all those commands, just for confirmation.
