how to disable ZD use
Hi, for security reason I was ask to prevent some users to use ZD, so they must use webmail only and no data cache can be saved in any pc.
I can disable POP or IMAP or even webmail acess (using firewall or COS) but how to disable the ZD use?
Pretty sure Zimbra Desktop communicates with the server on port 80 without SSL or 443 with SSL using the SOAP API.
I think your best route to disable Zimbra Desktop is to not allow local software installations on your users computers.
Tnx Xeon for yuor answer. The point is: data leak prevention
A user can install ZD on his personal PC (at home, so I have no controll), download a local copy of all data (mail, cal, docs etc..).
For company policy users can access to Zimbra only using the webmail, I can disable all protocols but they can use ZD and with the 7.0 version can also make a local backup! In a data protection logic it's a big hole ...
