Default IMAP/POP3 client support

Hi,

Pardon me for asking this silly question, I just want to know the new ZCS 7.1 Open Source edition IMAP and POP3 support. How many IMAP/POP3 users can connect using Outlook 2010, 2007, Thunderbird? Is it unlimited?

Many thanks!

Yes it's unlimited if you have enough hardware to support it. If you gave a few more details about your configuration, intended user base plus your current hardware specifications you might get a more useful answer.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for answering. The 2 servers have Intel Xeon 5600 series CPU with 24GB RAM and will be setup as an HA/Failover cluster using DRBD. At least 500 users (xp, vista, win7, mac) will connect using an email client like outlook and thunderbird. Just want to know if the open source edition will allow this. I've read previously that it only allows 3 users to connect using outlook/thunderbird, not sure though if it is really correct.

Thanks again.

Jan

I don't know where you read that but it's not correct, you should have no problem connecting via IMAP (or the Web UI) for that number of users but have you considered using Zimbra Desktop? Try the recent ZD 7 beta 2.

I've tried the previous version, unfortunately it was so slow so I had to revert to Thunderbird, will try the version you suggested. Glad to know that what I've read is wrong.

Can users share calendar, e.g. Secretary set meeting schedule and send it to her boss for confirmation?
