Default Zimbra mails problem with Sonic firewall

Dear All

We have Zimbra mail server installed as corporate mail server. We are using the same for last couple of years and facing no issues. Earlier we were using Zimbra based mail server with windows as OS in users systems. Now we are looking to move towards Ubuntu as OS. We have Sonicwall NSA2400 firewall installed at gateway.

The problem we are facing is when we are sending mails using thunderbird mail client using Ubuntu as OS, connection with mail server fails. If we are using the same with Windows as OS and MS outlook express as mail client its working fine without any issue.

Is there any change needs to be made in config file or any system file in Zimbra mail server to make it compatible with Ubuntu as OS

Please help in resolving the issue.

Deepak Gupta

You should start by updating your forum profile with the output of the following command (do not post the output in this thread):

Code:
zmcontrol -v

You've really given no information about what, exactly, your problem is. Have a look in the log files for any errors, have a look at the error message that's produced when you try to send an email via Thunderbird. Give a better description of your mail server(s) configuration.

There are no configuration changes necessary for Zimbra and Ubuntu other than the normal pre-requisites. Without a better description of your problem it's impossible to give you any advice.

Did you search the forums for any similar problems and if so, what did you find?

Default Zimbra Mails problem with Sonicwall Firewall

Hi Phoenix

The problem is it fails to connect to mail server. There is no errors reported in Mail Server Logs. When we try it without firewall the same works well without any problem.

We tried to trace the problem with Sonicwall firewall too. The packets which are coming back from mail servers get dropped by firewall. Due to reason mail clients not able to connect to mail server.

What I want to understand is there any configuration changes required in Zimbra server for Ubuntu Os

Then you have a problem with your Firewall that needs fixing.

I've already answered that question in my previous post.
