You should be able to find the answer if you search the forums but you should, at least, start by looking at the errors in the log files.

stop zimbra
Quote:
su - zimbra
zmcontrol stop
zmcontrol status
logout
make sure all zimbra services were stopped
then do
Quote:
lsof -i TCP:25
if you see port 25 still in list then you have another "default" mailserver running on the machine..remove that..and start zimbra services again.
also
look into the logfiles as phoenix suggested

I had the same problem, removed the postfix and decided

sudo apt-get remove postfix

Reboot

even removing postfix he keeps the authentication settings.

To make it simple, the TS using SUSE (SLES 11 SP1 ?), so the right answer maybe :

Code:
service postfix stop
chkconfig postfix off
Then restart Zimbra service

so.. I had same problem.. with port 25 after power failure

I do as root postfix stop, then as zimbra user do a zmcontrol stop - than start, and now MTA works.. but I am confused should I disable postfix or not?

what is the safest way to do that?

tnx

Yes, of course you should disable the postfix that's installed by your operating system: +ubuntu +"disable service" - Yahoo! Search Results
