Default Long-term solution

Hello!

I am currently evaluating Zimbra Collaborative Suite - Open Source Edition and so far I've really liked what I've seen. The evaluation is a part of a study I'm doing as my final thesis in my education.

My main concern relates to a long-term solution and to acquire this vendor lock-in has to be avoided. Therefor I'm looking into the possibility to export all of the users' data (account, mail, calendars, etc.) to open formats.

How does Zimbra respond to this kind of demand?

You can export the data via the user preferences panel, have a read of the Product Documentation (search the forums for further details on exporting data). If you read the documentation or product specifications you would know that the underlying products are all Open Source and therefore there's no 'vendor lock-in' and the data is readily available for users to export as they wish. You should also search the wiki (link at the top of this page) for the word "REST".
