Default [SOLVED] Backup Account Question

Hello,

I need to backup an account right now and I would like to keep that backup forever. I am going to delete everything over 2 years old in the account and if the user decides she needs one of those emails I can temporarily restore it to a different account and have her login to it to retrieve the email. But is there a way I could create the backup and make it so it doesn't get deleted after 30 days and keep it on the same box? If I put it in a new directory under /opt/zimbra/backup would that prevent it from being deleted? I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

Try

zmbackup -a user@domain.com -f -t /tmp/backupdir/

and change /tmp/backupdir to where you want this backup to go.

Also, if you're running 5.0.9 or later, it might be easier to make a backup like this: ZCS-to-ZCS Migrations

Ok, cool thanks. So putting the backup in a different directory will prevent it from being deleted?

Yes. I would also include it in your backups some how or copy it off to a different machine to ensure you have a 2nd copy, just to be safe. I never trust ever having just one single copy of things. Hardware and drives fail, regularly.
