Default Is This Possible with OSE?

I have one OSE server running right now. It is currently in a large tower unit. I am going to be installing a rack soon and I have 4 rack mount servers available. One of them is a suitable replacement for the tower. Can i setup another Zimbra instance on the second server as a mirror..bring it online, sync it up with the other one...then after they are synced up drop the tower down and be running on the rack mount replacement?

that'll work but it's not the same thing. I wanted to have both live in a mirror type arrangement..let them sync then take down the tower.. The link takes the tower offline and then rebuild the other one while everything is offline.

yes the link is also means you can do this is you have your DATA sync by stopping Zimbra OSE services then you can have the live sync/snapshot of your production

1) have new server setup
2) do rsync without stopping services
3) repeat step #2 few times if you have large data to reduce the final rsync time when you stop services
4) stop services and rsync..should not take more than 5-10 min

at this time you have 100% same snapshot of your LIVE server on new server.

5) start services

you can choose to do step 1-5 every day till you ready to move..once you ready to move you can just enable the new server..total downtime will not be more than 10 min of properly plan and tested.

done this many many times > 50 times on live servers..
Raj

PS: search forurm/wiki for many rsync based scripts to sync data correctly

I agree with Raj. I've done it several times as well and it works very well.
