Default Orphaned Alias

How do I get rid of an alias that has no 'Target' any longer? Something weird happened - I deleted a user that had an alias. The user went away, but the alias remained without a target. I cant delete the alias. I have deleted accounts with aliases before and the alias went away each time.

Pretty sure when this happened to me, I had to re-create the mailbox. Once the mailbox was there, I could delete the alias.

That makes sense

Actually I just create a fake account, add the orphan alias to this account, then, delete alias and delete account.

Thanks
