Default Migrate from ZCS6 -> ZCS7

I am currently running ZCS6 on an Ubuntu 8.04 LTS 32-bit.

I am planning on upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit as well...

What is the best strategy? Upgrade the OS first, or ZCS?

Any anything I can read on how to do this migration?

Thanks in advance!

My advice is to wait until 7.0.1 is released, because there might be some random issues, possibly related to ZCS on UBUNTU 8.04 64-bit. Some of us have had problems after upgrading to 7.0.0 in webmail with signatures and being unable to save changes in preferences tab.
Generally, it's always best to wait a patch or two before deploying new releases (7.x.x) into production environment.

Thanks for the advice. Things work like a champ now, so I am in no rush.

To be clear there are three changes I need to so:

1) 32 -> 64bit
2) Ubuntu 8.04 -> 10.04
3) ZCS 6 -> 7

Is it possible to combine 1 & 2 together using the 32-64bit migration instructions referenced?

From the wiki article:

Quote:
IMPORTANT: The ZCS release you install on the 64-bit server must be the same release as installed on the 32-bit server. The server can have a different operating system.

Awesome, thanks.

Since it also says I need to go through a Zimbra install using EXACTLY the same settings as my existing server, how do I do a dump of the existing settings (for install) to use as a reference?

Thanks in advance!

It's all covered in the article. Set-up the server with the same hostname & domain name as the old server then follow the instructions in the article, it tells you which setting to change in the configuration files. Read the article a couple of times so you're familiar with the steps and then just go through them one by one, the article does work. If you have a problem then it's most likely you've not followed the steps exactly, you can always remove Zimbra and start again.

Thanks, so where I am stuck is at the last step for preparing the 64-bit server:
Change any other settings on the new server to match the configuration on the original server.
Is there a way for me to see the settings on my current 32-bit server in a manner consistent with what the installer is showing me on my 64-bit server so I can make sure they match?

And maybe there is also a way (post install) that I can do a reasonable dump of the settings to comparing using diff?

Thanks in advance, otherwise I think I get the rest.

I am assuming the answer to the above, is just the settings that the installer is showing, I did a zmprov galc to list everything so I think I got the settings just fine.

That said, I did run into a couple of inconsistencies:

editing my localconfig.xml file, I noticed a couple of anomolies:

- My 64-bit server didn't contain any logger keys
- My 64-bit server didn't contain any mailboxd_keystore keys

And both of my machines (running 6.0.10_GA) and I couldn't fix up the tomcat keystore (neither machine had /opt/zimbra/tomcat but did have /opt/zimbra/mailboxd). Not sure if the instructions regarding copying keystore has the instructions backwards...

Help?
