Question How to install a-spell (Zimbra Spell)

    Hello all,

I have a live zimbra server that I have been using for a couple of years. We had a crash during the last upgrade and are back up now, but without aspell or zimbra spell. My question is how can I add this back to my live server?

    Thanks,

    Joe

You need to upgrade your forum profile with the output of the following command (do not post the output in this thread):

    Code:
    zmcontrol -v

You need to give some details about what the 'crash' actually was and some information about any errors you see in the log files when you start Zimbra. You should also confirm the status of the services with the output of the following command:

    Code:
    zmcontrol status

    Bill,

    I have updated my profile.

The output of zmcontrol status is

    Code:
    zimbra@mail:~$ zmcontrol status

    Host mail.threerivershospital.com
    	antispam Running
    	antivirus Running
    	ldap Running
    	logger Running
    	mailbox Running
    	mta Running
    	snmp Running
    	stats Running
    zimbra@mail:~$
The crash occurred when I upgraded to the current version of zimbra ne. The problem was a corrupt file. My error as I should have tested the md5 sum and lesson learned. But the install bailed out on the web server portion. Tech support uploaded a clean .deb, and reinstalled the system. Afterwards, I restored the mailboxes and the like.

When in the Admin console, the spell option is greyed out and when I run zmcontrol status, it does not show in the list. I am guessing that it was not installed. For most of my users it doesn't matter as they use the built in spell check from Firefox, other however insist that I return the service.

As far as logs ... Do you want output from the mailbox.log file or which one?

    Warm Regards,

    Joe

See if the service is installed and/or enabled by running the following commands:

    Code:
zmprov gs `zmhostname` | grep zimbraServiceEnabled
zmprov gs `zmhostname` | grep zimbraServiceInstalled

You're also missing convertd from that list. Can you have a look in your package management systems and see if the packages: zimbra-spell & zimbra-convertd are actually installed? If they're not installed then unpack the download installation binary and in the packages subdirectory you'll see those two packages listed, install both of them.

When you installed the packages you've need to enable them, run the following two commands:

    Code:
    zmprov ms `zmhostname` +zimbraServiceInstalled antivirus +zimbraServiceInstalled antispam +zimbraServiceInstalled logger +zimbraServiceInstalled mailbox +zimbraServiceInstalled mta +zimbraServiceInstalled convertd +zimbraServiceInstalled stats +zimbraServiceInstalled snmp +zimbraServiceInstalled ldap +zimbraServiceInstalled spell

    zmprov ms `zmhostname` +zimbraServiceEnabled antivirus +zimbraServiceEnabled antispam +zimbraServiceEnabled logger +zimbraServiceEnabled mailbox +zimbraServiceEnabled mta +zimbraServiceEnabled convertd +zimbraServiceEnabled stats +zimbraServiceEnabled snmp +zimbraServiceEnabled ldap +zimbraServiceEnabled spell
That will ensure that they get upgraded during the next upgrade and that they are enabled during restarts, you should now be able to start both of those services:

    Code:
    zmconvertctl start
    zmspellctl start
    Regards
