Default Access to FOSS from mobile devices

Hi Zimbra folks,

I have a FOSS version in my server and I have a queston regarding access from mobile devices. In that side Mobile Device Setup - Zimbra :: Wiki in Zimbra Mobile Overview it says that , in the FOSS version a legal way is the only through webclient in url http://mydomain.com/m . And.. what if some user will use native syncing in his device however ? I mean.. is it any way to block in FOSS access to native syncing ? Or maybe this access is turning off in default ?

Second question: when I type url http://mydomain.com/m or http://mydomain.com/zimbra/m I get logging window , but with the message "Authentication required" and with exclamation icon , is there a better url to this webpanel without this "native" message ?

cheers!

The only way to sync a mobile device is with the Network Edition feature. You can sync to an OSS version with the Zimbra Mobile Web Client or use Funambol (search the forums for that word) - the Zimbra Mobile Web Client just gives you the same access to an account as you have with the Web UI. There is no 'native sync' from a mobile device to an OSS Zimbra server, they can use an IMAP or POP client but that's only email and you can easily block them at your firewall.

Tell me you're not really using an insecure http connection from the internet to your Zimbra server - all your communications are transmitted in an unencrypted form and that's not a good idea.
