Angry Cannot connect to "https://xyz.com/service/soap/".

Hi,

I have a configuration problem. I use this Zimbra open source version for try:
Release 7.0.0_GA_3077.UBUNTU10_64 UBUNTU10_64 FOSS edition.
When I 'd like to login Zimbra Desktop by IMAP over SSL, I get an error message.
"Cannot connect to "https://xyz.com/service/soap/". Please check host/port and network connectivity."
Some port I opened on my Linux server (443, 143, 7071, 7070 and more).

Please, help me!

Thx.

Barna

Have you searched the forums for the answer (it is there)? Have you set-up a Split DNS on your LAN? You need one if you're behind a firewall or NAT router.

Yes, I searched the forums for the answer. I tested my IMAP connection on SSL on the LAN and WAN. My problem has both directions. The connection do not established into LAN.

I searched answer my problem on the web. I found some same problem without solution.

I use router and firewall integrated with router in my test environment. I opened 443 port.

Then the answer will be all over these forums.

You didn't answer my question about the Split DNS.

As I mentioned in my first reply to you:

Hi Bill,

I installed a Zimbra Desktop to the server. I met same problem. I think, DNS not relevant on the local enviroment. I tried setup ZD with private IP address. The problem same as before.

Thx.

Yes, it is but if you choose not to believe me then just search the forums for details of why it's important and take a look at the Quick Start Installation Guide about DNS records.

Default Zimbra Desktop can not access Zimbra soap service.

Hi, I have the same problem, but in my case I´m not natting or behind seperate firewall.
The server has a public Ip and iptables as firewall.
These ports are open: 22,25,80,110,389,443,465,993,995,143,7071,7025,707 0,10000
The server is working fine if I log into the web interface and with Zimbra Desktop through IMAP.
If I try to connect the Zimbra Desktop to the server as a Zimbra Account Type
I get Error: "Cannot connect to "https://myserver/service/soap/". Please check host/port and network connectivity"
Do I need to use this Split DNS on my setup as well ?
I have this setup: Release 7.0.0_GA_3077.UBUNTU10_64 UBUNTU10_64 FOSS edition.

Update: 02-25-2011
Problem solved :
Standard setup of Zimbra is serving Zimbra desktop and web logon on port 80, non secure.
By running "su - zimbra zmtlsctl https" and restart the server, I enabled communication throu port 443. Both for Zimbra Desktop as well for web access.

Regards.
Maggi.

You don't need to be behind a separate firewall, just behind a firewall and you are. I'd suggest you look at Split DNS. Look at the log files first and see what errors there are.
