tried to update the photo/image from the admin web interface or zmprov... no success

-it's displayed when hovering over a gal contact
-cannot be changed from the admin web interface
-can be changed only with zmprov

you can actually see it happening in this picture...

the only thing that actually sounds like a good try is:

zmprov modifyAccount user@domain.tld photo [VALUE]

the problem is I'm not sure what's the format of [VALUE]

tried with base64_encode, filepath etc

nothing worked


any intelligent suggestions?

what if you login as the galsync account and just edit the gal there?

we're having one main domain - let's call it mainDomain.tld
and several secondary domains (used only for some aliases) - sec1Domain.tld, sec2Domain.tld etc.

(alias example -> info@secNDomain.tld -> user@mainDomain.tld)

after your reply I discovered that, although all the secondary domains have a galsync account - i.e. galsync@secMDomain.tld, there was no galsync account for mainDomain.tld
(this did not affect the gal functionallity - until now)

after this i did what was recommended here:
GAL Sync Account - Zimbra :: Wiki

and also did the force sync.

after logging in with the newly created galsync@mainDomain.tld I was able to see under contact in the folder _InternalGAL the content of gal, with the only problem that some of the contacts are still uneditable (probably an issue with the sync - will come back later with details about this)

the problem was that when configuring the galsync account for mainDomain, in the field 'Most results returned by GAL search' I entered a value smaller than the total number of accounts - after this I forced sync one more time with `zmgsautil forceSync -a galsync@mainDomain.tld -n InternalGal` as per the wiki entry and now everything is editable

and also was able to edit a contact photo.
will also try to answer to my earlier question (about the format of the photo when checking it with zmprov getAccount) if helpful

it's almost ok now
you can see the pictures in GAL but not when using the people search function
anyone successfully did this - people search is a new feature of zimbra 7

hy nmirceac,

i did as you described, and pics were displayed in the galsync acc. address book, but when i synced the gal again, all the pics were gone.

couldn't get the pictures in people search either...

format was jpeg, size didn't matter, since zimbra shrinks the pics.

hope someone can answer this, would love to have pics in the GAL.

hi
after the initial forceSync (to get the current GAL into the contact folder from the galsync account) and updating the contacts with the photos, you're not supposed to do a forceSync (it will rewrite the contacts with the current data from gal)...
you can either do a fullSync OR just setup a short sync interval in the galSettings for your domain (the default in 1 day), if you want quick results you can make it 5 minute.

regarding the size of the photo, i noticed this is also important (the full photo is displayed when viewing the contact details) it's resized via html (not imagemagick or something more inteligent) max width/height 45px

anyway, although the photos are now in gal, they are still not displayed in 'people search'

i actually did not described it like that initially, sorry..
forgot to update the post... will put everything together once somebody finds out how to solve the people search feature.

I have the same question.

Someone posted a method of syncing with from another LDAP.
There is no ways to import image except syncing from outside ldap, isn't there?
