Default License activation and multiple servers

Hello,

Is there some formal documentation available regarding the new license activation scheme, fingerprinting, and how it operates in the context of multiple server installations? e.g. an installation with several MTA/LDAP/mailbox servers, and a failover server? Or an installation with a single live production server and a cold failover/DR server, so on. Support wrote "Once you activate a license on one node (production node), it cannot be activated again on a cold standby." but I am dubious.

What can lead to a need for a new activation? I presume that upgrades will preserve license activation. Will installing additional nodes after initial activation lead to activation issues (adding MTAs, mailbox nodes, LDAP nodes, changing LDAP master, so on)?

Thanks.

Larry
