Default Need help on changing mail domain

Dear All,

My company requires a domain name change for email. From xyz.com to abc.com and all current users will reflect to new abc.com domain Will I run:

1. Change DNS records

2. Run
su - zimbra
/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetservername -n abc.com

3. Re-create new certificate for abc.com dmain

Is this a correct way to do?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

maybe you can create a new abc.com domain, on your server, and move users to it, leaving the domain xyz.com without account.

To move user:

zmprov renameAccount user@server.domain.com user@domain.com

Could this be a right solution for your problem?

Regards

Why not just use zmprov to rename the domain (there are details in the forums)? As always, make sure a backup is taken before you make any modifications to the server.

I'm with Bill: I'd use zmprov rd to rename the domain as it will also change the domain for all of the mailboxes at the same time.

Then if needed and when you are all ready to make ssl certificate and public DNS changes, you can change the name of the server.

Hope that helps,
Mark
