Mailbox Stopped zmmailboxdctl is not running

Hi, I'm installing zimbra(zcs-5.0.18_GA_3011.RHEL5.20090707164432) in centOS 5.3, my problem is that zmmailboxdctl is not running, I've tried starting and stopping this process but when I type zmcontrol status I have the same problem.

antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Stopped
zmmailboxdctl is not running.
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Running

But if I type zmcontrol start everything is working correctly.

Please If somebody can help me I'll very grateful.

There are threads all over the forums that cover this problem, did you do a search? Let's start with what errors do you see in the log files?

Why are you actually installing 5.0.18 when the current release is 6.0.10? I would suggest you uninstall the version you have and get the most recent 6.x version and install that.

Is this server behind a NAT router? If it is, you need to set-up a Split DNS - have you done that? If you have set-up the SPlit DNS then go to the article and run all the commands in the 'Verify....' section to confirm that everything is working correctly.

Hi Bill, thanks for your time, i've checked your answer but my server is not behind NAT router, in fact the server has not an internet conection is just a intranet server. Do you recommend to upgrade zimbra version to zcs-6.0.9_GA_2686.RHEL5.20101115233426? If you recommend that do I have to uninstall the old version before install the new? or I can upgrade the new version without problems.

You still need a DNS server (including a valid and correctly formatted /etc/hosts file) so that the IP address of your Zimbra server can be resolved correctly, do you have one and is the hosts file correct? No, I recommend you install the most recent version which is 6.0.10. Do you have anything on that Zimbra server that you need to keep? Is this a new installation of Zimbra?
