    Many thanks for the response.
    Are you suggesting:

    Build OS: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
    Install dependencies and split DNS.
    Install Zimbra 6.0.8 ?????
Copy in entire /opt/zimbra from old UB8.04 server DO NOT START IT.
Run upgrade install of ZCS 6.0.10

    Hi det

I'm in the same situation as you, I would like to upgrade from ubuntu 8.04 zcs 6.08 to ubuntu 10.04 zcs 6.0.10.

Have you done your upgrade, if yes in which order ? And have you some trouble during the upgrade ?

    Thanks a lot.

Have you read the wiki article that's mentioned in the post above yours?

Yes i've read it. But I don't want to change the server.

I have a multiple-server installation, so I just want to upgrade the servers and not to migrate them.

    Hi M4XiMuS,
keep your latest full backup of user mailboxes, copy config backups, stop zimbra in your present setup, upgrade your Ubuntu first to 10.04, then download the ZCS for 10.04 and run the installer should work fine for you. Host files should be right and split dns checks will confirm everything is in order.

I guess det would have had a safe upgrade this way.

    Hi M4XiMuS,

I end up using a diff server. Because my version of Ubuntu has some custom config, it is not able to upgrade. By right, fyd's recommendation should work.

In the interests of low stress I am opting for this approach:

    1) Install Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on the new server.
    2) Perform an OSE restore to the new server (I've found the NE restore is a pain)

Go Home and enjoy my weekend

    1) Upgrade the OLD decomissioned server from

    zcs-NETWORK-6.0.8_GA_2661.UBUNTU8_64.20100820033955

    to zcs-NETWORK-6.0.10_GA_2692.UBUNTU8_64.20101215161357.tgz

If that works then I'll try the same upgrade on the production server.

    2) Upgrade the OLD server to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and zcs-NETWORK-6.0.10_GA_2692.UBUNTU10_64.20101215162421.tgz

If that works then I'll try the same upgrade on the production server.

    3) Upgrade to ZCS 7 on the OLD server !

I guess my misfortune of hardware failure has turned into great fortune that I'll end up with a dev server !

The beauty of all this is that I was able to soup up a spare desktop PC for use as the temporary server. No way we could have done that with Exchange, or recovered 100Gb of Mail from Tape to live production within 24 hours.

Be wary of cheap 1TB SAS Drives !!
