Default Emails sent with attachment fails.

A fresh install of ZIMBRA OS on Deb5,

Emails with some text lines goes through, from Thunderbird client and also through Zimbra UI, but when i try to send it with an attachment, it fails to send through Thunderbird.

The error message says, SMTP failed to send message through xxxx server, request timed out. Please contact network administrator.

Its not with the firewall for sure as i can send text emails. When i tried sending attached files from UI, it doesn't even go through the attachment window.

Does anyone have a clue why it is doing like that.

Thanks.

Default connection timed out for attachments - getting worse

Is there a way to increase the time limit set to contact the zimbraserver to send out emails with attachment.

Because every single time i send an attachment, the message fails sending also it does not copy in the sent folder on a email client like thunderbird.
I have been asking for help through different titles, but no one seems to help

Any ideas please

Is there anyone who can help..

What does request timed out mean.

Can we setup zimbra to increase the requested time out such that Thunderbird or Zimbra UI gets enough time to upload, attach and send.

Any replies are highly apprecaited.

Thank you for your help.

You shouldn't be posting duplicate messages on the same topic (I'll merge your recent threads), please keep them to one thread in future.

The likely reason you're net getting an answer is (for example): a) it works for everyone else b) you're not giving any detailed information about the problem. Posting one line from the log file out of context is really helpful.

To answer your question, 'timed out' means that it can't make a connection to the server. If it can't make a connection then you possibly have something blocking it or a possible authentication problem connecting to the server.

Thank you Bill,
Will check with my firewall if its blocking outgoing mails from the smtp port 25 or 465. Yeah, i have been posting different threads on same topic, will try to avoid that next time.

Red face Error Copying message to the sent folder

Hi Bill,

I checked if it was port firewall. But doesn't seem to be so.

I used Thunderbird client, and can save it on thunderbird local folder.

But when i try to save it on the sent folder on the server, it says

"Copy Failed"

"failed to copy to the sent folder"

I don't know what exactly is causing this problem. Zimbra or Firewall ????
