Ajax webmail, "Get mail" automatically selects message in inbox.

I have a minor but annoying issue with ZCS 6.0.9, and webmail.

When using the ajax webmail interface, if you're sitting in your inbox, and have selected a message to read, and then click on Get Mail. The message that you were reading gets checked (selected).

Of course you can simply un-check it afterwards, but if you dont notice that this happened, it could be very easy to accidentally delete a message that you didnt intend to.

Might this be a known issue? I was unable to find reference to it in a search on the forum, but as you can imagine, its somewhat tricky to search for.

Yes, it's a 'known issue' and it's by design. When you hit the get mail button it will fetch the mail from the server and run your default search again to display the correct mail and that will go to the first message in your current view.

But it actually places a Check in the box next to the mesage i was viewing. That's a rather odd thing to do, "By design".

Sorry, that was wrong - it's actually changed in 6.0.9 to work correctly. I misread your post and thought you were just talking about placing the cursor on the message and highlighting it rather than open it for reading it, my mistake.

I thought that's what had happened.

And, i'm actually running 6.0.9 (i know my profile asys 6.0.7, i havent updated it yet).

Was it fixed in a patch to 6..0.9?

I have a recollection that this has come up in the forums before now, unfortunately I can't seem to find it. I can say, however, that it's working as follows on my current NE 6.0.9 server. That behaviour is: open and email for reading; hit the get mail button; behaviour is that it reverts to the Inbox with the viewed message (or conversation) selected (plus the check box selected) - that's what I see. I won't be around for the rest of this evening so if you could have a search through the forums or bugzilla you might have more luck than me.

I;m getting slightly confused.

Is the check mark next to the message i was viewing after "Get Mail" intended behaviour or not? I cant imagine that this is intentional, if it is, then what's the purpose?

I can confirm the same behavior that NathanL is seeing, and I'm running 6.0.9 FOSS version. In message list, with message highlighted, click the "Get Mail" button. Highlighted message becomes selected (ie check-box in first column). This definitely seems like a bug. I would suggest searching bugzilla and filing a new bug if an existing one can't be found.
