Phone zimlet not recognizing numbers

We are installing cisco IP phones and would like to use the phone zimlet. We have it working perfectly - if someone clicks the phone number it opens the default app being the cisco dialer, and dials out on their desktop phone. One problem - it wont work if the phone number looks like this:

(323)323-3232

but will work if the number is like this:

(323) 323-3232

Unfortunately, our entire GAL of 5000 users contains users without space.. Is there any way to fix this??
