Default [SOLVED] zmmailboxdctl is not running

Hi

I am getting the 2 errors.
Quote:

httpd port(80) is already in use
zmcontrol stat giving below output.
antispam Running antivirus Running ldap Running logger Running
mailbox Stopped
zmmailboxdctl is not running.
mta Running snmp Running spell Running stats Running

recent upgrade is from 5.02 to 6.0.

Could some one help for getting the server up.

Default hi

Can you check 'netstat -lpn | grep :80' as root and see if the port is occupied by any running process? if yes you have to quit that and try. Make sure iptables and selinux is disabled too while installing.

Just noticed you are upgrading .. if its that you sure you've stopped all processes with zmcontrol stop before upgrading? Doing a top -u zimbra in a second terminal helps to see if any process is running. Perhaps while you are upgrading old zimbra processes could be running.

Default hmm

So I guess you see this while giving a 'zmcontrol status'

Have you tried what i said? Check if 80 port is listening before stopping zimbra. Zimbra is not able to bind to 80 it seems. Do you see :80 as used when zimbra is off?

Hi,

I tried and this is the status I am getting. Web access is not working. POP is working fine.

zimbra@mail ~]$ netstat -lpn | grep :80
(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info
will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all.)
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN -

Could you please suggest ?

Regards,

Saritha

Hi Saritha,

1. you need to run that command as root user to get the output.

2. Have you tried
a. zmmailboxdctl start
b. zmcontrol stop/start to restart ZCS and see if mailboxdctl is binding to 80?

Where do you get that 'httpd port(80) is already in use' error? while checking status?

What did you do as root? If you mean starting Zimbra then you should never do that.

I got the error through below command. -
[root@mail /]# service httpd start
Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
[FAILED]
Do you actually have a web server running on your Zimbra server? If you do then stop it and disable it from starting. You need to stop Zimbra then start it and look in the log files for errors.

Default Hi

Hi Saritha,

Please find Bill's reply above. It seems you both replied at the same time.

As Bill stated 'do not' run zimbra commands as root, I was mentioning running 'netstat' as root. Sorry if you got confused with that. Zimbra commands shoudn't be run as root as it will break your permissions.

Like Bill said you shoudn't run a web server alongside your zimbra and that's the port conflict. Please find his reply above.
